Hungarian-Kyrgyz Business Forum: Strengthening bilateral economic cooperation
On November 21, 2025, the Kimpton BEM Budapest Hotel hosted the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Business Forum, organized with the support of HEPA, the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency. The event served as an important platform for strengthening economic ties between the two countries, presenting investment opportunities, and discussing promising areas of cooperation.
The Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Board Kanat Kurmanov and expert of the Credit and Investment Administration Service Bakhtiar Sultanov.
The forum was held in English, Russian, and Hungarian. The moderator was Mr. Attila Nemeth (HEPA). The event began with welcoming remarks by Ms. Boglárka Illés, State Secretary for Bilateral Relations at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Forum participants listened to a series of presentations highlighting key areas of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to reports on the potential for investment in Kyrgyzstan, prospects for export cooperation, opportunities for tourism development, and issues of sustainable water resource management. A separate highlight of the program was a presentation by Kanat Kurmanov, Deputy Chairman of the Fund's Board, in which he presented the Fund's plans and priorities for the development of investment projects and support for joint initiatives by entrepreneurs.
After the main session, participants continued their discussions during a networking lunch, which allowed them to exchange views and strengthen professional contacts. The forum concluded with B2B and B2G meetings aimed at discussing specific projects and identifying new areas of economic growth.
The Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund notes the high level of interest among participants in developing bilateral cooperation and expresses its gratitude to the organizers for creating an effective and constructive platform for dialogue.
